About this Service

Family First Legal’s File It Yourself program gives Maryland families access to attorney‑drafted court documents at a fraction of the cost of full representation. Every document is prepared by a licensed Maryland family law attorney using your specific facts, the correct Maryland court forms, and the filing requirements for your county. Packages are available for use in any Maryland jurisdiction.

Each package includes an optional complimentary 30‑minute phone consultation. The consultation is recommended if you’re unsure which documents you need, but not required. If you choose the consultation, drafting begins after it is completed; if you waive it, drafting begins once we receive your completed intake questionnaire.

All services are offered in Uncontested (both parties agree) and Contested (a dispute exists or cooperation is uncertain) versions. Contested packages include stronger motion language and supporting pleadings designed for adversarial proceedings.

For clients with an active Maryland Circuit Court case, we also offer standalone motion‑only packages. These are ideal when you need a specific motion drafted — such as postponing a hearing, enforcing an order, requesting documents, or addressing a procedural issue — without retaining full representation. Each motion is drafted by a Maryland family law attorney in compliance with the Maryland Rules of Procedure and any local county rules. An optional 30‑minute consultation is available and strongly recommended for first‑time filers.

Please note: These packages prepare the documents only. Filing, service of process, and any required court appearances are the client’s responsibility. If you need an attorney to appear in court, full representation is available.

IMPORTANT: Family First Legal, LLC is a Maryland-licensed law firm. The "File It Yourself" document preparation service does NOT constitute legal representation. Purchasing these documents does not create an attorney-client relationship. Documents are tailored to your specific facts and applicable Maryland court forms. The optional 30-minute consultation is a document strategy consultation only and does not establish ongoing representation. Document preparation fees may be applied toward a flat-rate full representation package offered by Family First Legal; this credit does not apply to hourly or retainer-based engagements. We strongly encourage all clients to review their situation with a Family First Legal attorney before filing. If your matter is contested, complex, or involves domestic violence, emergency custody, or financial concealment, please contact our office directly for full legal representation.
